My Story

Paulino is full of energy — the kind of boy who could run and play from sunup to sundown. He has a younger sister named Fernanda, and together they’ve already faced more heartbreak than most children ever should.

Last year, their father kicked them out of their home in Oaxaca. With nowhere else to turn, their mother brought them to Baja California, hoping to start over. Before finding Open Arms, Paulino and Fernanda were left in the care of a cousin barely older than them — a reality many children here face when families are desperate. It’s a risky and heartbreaking trade-off: safety and education for survival.

Now, thanks to Open Arms, Paulino and Fernanda have a safe place to grow, learn, and just be kids. Their mom no longer has to fear losing them or placing them in an orphanage.
