Jr. High program

At all of our campuses we have a Jr. High program. This program is a place where the older kids who have graduated out of the daycare program can come after school and still be a part of Open Arms. This program provides daily devotions and free tutor homework help for our Jr. High students. It also serves as a safe place to go after school and belong. This is a great way for us to continue building relationships with these kids as they grow up and become young adults.

The students, even though they are a little older, still need a safe place to go after school and have a healthy God oriented community to surround them with. In Jr. High, students are starting to develop their own world views and beliefs. We want to give them a place where they can find a safe community and learn more about their Creator. We want them to have a place where they know that they are loved and wanted. Our staff are focused on creating intentional relationships and that safety for our students.

In Mexico, the average education is 7th grade. That means that most of the population drops out of school after 6th grade. Our Jr. High Program hopes to change that statistic by providing homework help, accountability, & tutoring to all of our students. So many of our students don’t have a good space to do their homework so it often gets forgotten and put aside. We want to empower our students to succeed in their schooling and reach the goal and immense accomplishment of graduation.

At Open Arms we want to break this cycle of dropouts. We will help pay for our children enrolled in our program to continue their education, through Junior High, High School and even college! In 2021, we had our first OA child graduate from college and we are so excited to see more and more of our kids break this cycle!
