Hurricane Rachel Devastates Open Arms Campuses — Help Us Rebuild and Restore Hope!

On October 10th, Hurricane Rachel tore through Baja California with winds reaching 80 mph, leaving significant damage across all three Open Arms campuses. We are praising God that no one was injured, but the road to recovery is just beginning.

In La Misión, a roof suffered major leaks and water damage. At our Camalú campus, three roofs need repairs, including the home of our founder, Heidi. The terrace outside our missionary dormitories was completely destroyed by the powerful winds. At Los Pinos, excessive flooding has caused ground movement that is threatening the building’s foundation.

Northern Baja California has not experienced a hurricane of this magnitude in more than 30 years. Our buildings and communities simply weren’t prepared for such a devastating storm.

But the damage goes beyond our campuses. Many of the children and families we serve have also suffered damage to their homes. As we rebuild, we are committed to helping these vulnerable families recover, too.

The storm may have damaged our buildings, but it has not shaken our mission.

For over 20 years, Open Arms has worked to keep children off the streets, out of orphanages, and in the loving care of their families. Now, we need your help to continue that mission.

Will you help us rebuild what the storm has destroyed?

Every gift, no matter the size, will help us repair damaged facilities, support affected families, and continue providing a safe place for children to learn, grow, and experience the love of Jesus.

Together, we can turn devastation into restoration and remind these families that they are not forgotten.

Hurricane Rachel may have left a path of destruction, but together, we can leave a legacy of hope.
