My Story

He has a brother, Jesus, who also attends the daycare. Luis has a story that many kids in Camalu are faced with. As soon as we found out about their story we accepted Luis and his brother Jesus into our care immediately. Their parents work in the strawberry fields and live day to day. They don’t have dreams, hopes, or plans for the future. They get up early in the morning, go to work, return home and the next day do it all over again. Luis and his brother had to be alone from 5:00AM to 6:00PM everyday while their parents were at work. They had to get ready for school, go to school by themselves and prepare dinner alone until their parents got home from work. For a long period of time Jesus and his brother quit school because no one was there to wake them up and send them off. They spent their days playing in the streets at risk of all the dangers of being home alone and being picked up by the government to be taken to an orphanage. This is not the future we saw for Luis and his brother. We sought out this family because they were in danger of losing their children to an orphanage. Since Luis and Jesus have been in the daycare they began attending school again and their family expanded. These boys have two more siblings, Jazmin and Hector, who are also in our care. We are so thankful they are not living in the risk of their previous circumstance and all of them can have found safety and refuge at Open Arms. Please pray that this entire family accepts Jesus as their Savior.
