My Story

Marjorie Zohemy is such a happy girl! She often has a bright smile on her face, and she loves the attention from everyone here at the daycare. Her parents are young but determined to make a life and provide for their little family. When Zohemy’s dad was a boy, he attended our OA campus in La Mision for several years. He aged out of our daycare program before we had begun our after-school program for the youth. We didn’t have too many years with him, but in the time we did have, we taught him about the Lord and about being responsible. Although we would have wanted him to wait longer before settling down and starting a family, we are proud that he is taking responsibility for his daughter. Both of Zohemy’s parents work at a ranch, and their commute to work is about an hour. They have struggled to find consistent, safe care for Zohemy. Sometimes an aunt would help them, but she has many children of her own and has not been able to provide consistent care. At risk for losing their jobs, they sought us out for help. They knew that Open Arms would be the safest place for Zohemy, and she has now become a second-generation OA kid! We are so hopeful that this young family will be able to achieve their dreams, serve God, and pave the way for a new future with our help! Please pray for this family.
