My Story

Symmond is a very special boy. He has been through a lot in his little life. When he was still in utero, his dad beat up his mom and she suffered from both physical and emotional abuse. After Symmond was born, he saw firsthand the abuse that took place in his home.

Just recently, his mom was able to escape this abusive relationship and move from southern Mexico up to La Mision, where she now lives with her aunt and uncle. They are helping her        get on her feet and keeping her and Symmond safe.

Symmond has been diagnosed with psychomotor retardation. This refers to a child who has       delayed development of or deficiency in mental and motor skills, and is caused by significant central nervous system damage or abnormalities. He has delayed cognitive skills (like speech) and delayed development of motor skills (like walking). Now that he is in our care, our psychologist works with him and our caretakers help him with therapy.

Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you for all you do!
