La Mision
His mother has a job at Open Arms, where she works very hard to keep the family together. His favorite thing to do is play puzzles. Abdel story is a testimony of God’s power. His mom was hired to work in the office at Open Arms, and she helps us with the music for our kids’ service. Abdel is a very special child: since he was born he has been unable to speak—but that changed once he came to Open Arms. His mom is so thrilled that he is communicating more and more, because he only muttered noises for the first five years of his life. Abdel is not diagnosed but he displays many symptoms of autism and ADHD. Since he began attending the daycare, his speech has improved and he has begun to socialize with more kids. Our psychologist works with him daily and also attends school with him for one hour each day. We hope that he will soon acclimate to the school environment and become able to attend school for longer periods of time. As you can imagine, it is tough caring for a special needs child, but we know God has a special plan for Abdel. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you for all you do!
